We used Ryan's Express in Hawthorne for a major event, and they were a complete disaster. We issued a purchase order to pay the final invoice on a net-15 day basis. The company signed the purchase order, making it a legally binding contract.
Then, the night before the event, Ryan’s Express demanded full payment on a credit card by 5 p.m. that day or else they would not show up the next morning. They said they would not honor the signed contract. One of our staff members was forced to put the full amount on her personal credit card - more than $6,000!
When the buses arrived the next day, two of the charter buses featured a political message – “Obama” – painted on each side. We were mortified at this overt campaign message. Many of our guests refused to ride the shuttle buses. After the event, we notified Ryan’s Express about the buses and requested some sort of compensation. The company said it would not provide refunds.
Then, two weeks after the event, they charged an additional $300 to the credit card without authorization. Believe it or not, they had the nerve to charge gratuities over and above the actual service costs as well as alleged travel charges. They refused to refund the fraudulent charge.
We ended up filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Do not use this company!
